Overview


The Standard Period Selection consists of three fields Period Type, From Date and To Date. The purpose of these fields is to limit the extent of time for reporting purposes.

Operation

The following fields are present on the form:

Field Description
Period Type

This drop-down field opens with a pre-defined list as follows:

Selection Description
Day Allows date period to be set for one day. Typically it sets the To Date field to the previous day. This date may be changed. The From Date field becomes inactive with the Day selection.
WTD Allows date period to be set for the current week by default. The week-to-date selection sets the To Date field to the previous day. This date may be changed. The From Date field becomes inactive with the WTD selection. The report will show data from the beginning of the week to the nominated To Date. Reports for previous weeks may be generated by entering the end date of that week into the To Date field.
MTD Allows date period to be set for the current month by default. The month-to-date selection sets the To Date field to the previous day. This date may be changed. The From Date field becomes inactive with the MTD selection. The report will show data from the beginning of the month to the nominated To Date. Reports for previous months may be generated by entering the end date of that month into the To Date field.
QTD Allows date period to be set for the current quarter by default. The quarter-to-date selection sets the To Date field to the previous day. This date may be changed. The From Date field becomes inactive with the QTD selection. The report will show data from the beginning of the quarter to the nominated To Date. Reports for previous quarters may be generated by entering the end date of that quarter into the To Date field.
HTD Allows date period to be set for the current half-year by default. The half-year-to-date selection sets the To Date field to the previous day. This date may be changed. The From Date field becomes inactive with the HTD selection. The report will show data from the beginning of the half-year to the nominated To Date. Reports for previous Half-years may be generated by entering the end date of that half-year into the To Date field.
YTD Allows date period to be set for the current year by default. The year-to-date selection sets the To Date field to the previous day. This date may be changed. The From Date field becomes inactive with the YTD selection. The report will show data from the beginning of the year to the nominated To Date. Reports for previous years may be generated by entering the end date of that year into the To Date field.
Date Range

Sets the To Date and From Date fields to the previous day. These dates may be changed.  The To Date must be set to a date later than the From Date.

Note: Inserting a date in the future will bring up will bring up an error message stating the the To Date will be reset to the previous day.

 
To Date

Specifies the date the reporting ends; defaulting to yesterday. The user can change the To Date depending on the period type selection.

Note: Inserting a date in the future will bring up will bring up an error message stating the To Date will be reset to the previous day.

Note: When selecting a standard Period Type (WTD, MTD, QTD, HTD, YTD) inserting a date in the past for the To Date may bring up a message stating the To Date does not represent the full date range for the period selected. It is important to read the message to decide what to do. The message will make a suggestion, and clicking the OK button will use the suggested date. 
From Date

Specifies the date the reporting begins. This field is only available with Date Range.

Note: Changing the From Date will bring up an error message if the date is greater than the To Date.
